My Story

My name is Lindsey Campbell, and I am a doctoral student at George Mason University. My primary specialization is Higher Education with a secondary specialization in Sport Management. My portfolio is a way to keep track of all of my accomplishments, reflections, and experiences throughout my program and to share them with members of my advisory committee.


My research interests include issues in higher education, collegiate athletics; and college teaching

Teaching Experiences


SPMT 201 - Introduction to Sport Management (face to face, online, and hybrid delivery method)

This course offers students a look at the diverse expanding field of sport and recreation. The course is designed to provide a comprehensive look at the field of sport management and the basic organizational structures found in the sport industry. Students will examine applications of managerial concepts and processes, and they will examine the ways in which sport organizations interact with each other, and with corporations, the government and non-governmental organizations.

SPMT 302 - Philosophical & Ethical Dimensions of Sport (face to face and online delivery method)
This course investigates moral issues in sport, and judgments about right and wrong behavior among athletes, coaches, spectators, and others. The class format is primarily lectures and class discussions, supplemented by group work and discussions of assigned readings and current ethical issues in sports.


SPMT 304 – Sport, Culture, and Society (face to face)
This course analyzes sport from educational, political, economic, and cultural perspectives. This course examines the role of sport in contemporary American society. Through the utilization of scholarly interpretations, students examine the way sport is linked to the structure and dynamics of social life. Particular attention is devoted to an analysis of the interrelationship between sport, society, social organization, and social change.


SPMT 412 - Sport Marketing & Sales (face to face)
This course provides the student with an in-depth look at the marketing and sales practices, procedures and operations of professional, college, recreational and other sport organizations and enterprises. Students refine their marketing skills and develop sound problem-solving methodologies by examining the ways in which sport marketing organizations exercise promotions, marketing research, sponsorships, sales, and fund raising in the sport industry
